The last one

Yes, it’s Wednesday.
The Nationals’ season ended last Friday night.
No, I didn’t do this…though it would’ve been a good idea at the time:

image

I’ve just been trying to sort out just what the fuck happened.
The night started off so well, with Bryce Harper & Ryan Zimmerman helping the Nats get off to a 6-0 lead. Up until the top of the 7th, no one panicked.
This next story is true. At the bar I was at Friday night, when Edwin Jackson took to the mound, a fellow Nats fan…wearing (I shit you not) a “Don’t Be a Clown, Bro!” T-shirt…put his head in his hands. If only I paid attention…
At any rate, we were all fine. That is, right up to the point where Drew Storen began to melt down. As the Cardinals start thinking…we have a chance?

image

Sadly, because of Drew…and Ian Desmond…they did. Thus, what had been an early 6-0 lead for the Nats…became instead a 9-7 Cardinals win.
And I’m left with this entry…the last one in my “sharing” format with Google+/Twitter/Blogger. Since none of you bothered to follow the links, I stop as of now. However…
If you still want to see what Friday night was like, there are a pair of videos…made w/my cellphone camera…on my YouTube channel. (The 2nd one is from when I got home, and is a postmortem to the game/night.)
So there it is. No Natitude till spring training.

Wow. Just, wow…

I admit I wanted the Cardinals to win this wild card “play-in” game tonight. Just so this NLDS with the Nats would be watchable for (at least) 5 games.
So why do I feel like shit?
Blame…the umpires.
Because, for starters, the home plate ump clearly botched a clear strike three on Cody Ross of the Braves…on account of giving time out while the pitcher was already in his delivery!!!
Next pitch, in the LF seats. 2-0 Atlanta. But, then the Braves began to do their best impersonation of the Cubs/Mets and fucked up in the field.

image

At any rate, the final was 6-3 Cards. I’m telling you this now, because this game goes down in infamy for the LF umpire misinterpreting the infield fly rule.
By having a shortstop catch a ball…in short left field!! Thus leading to a 19 minute delay as Braves fans showed their true colors.
By throwing garbage on the field.
10-Cent Beer Night in Cleveland…Disco Demolition Night at (old) Comiskey Park in Chicago…shit, even the last Senators game in ’71 all pale in comparison to this obscenity tonight in Atlanta.

image

Regardless of your opinion of Chipper Jones, he didn’t deserve to have his career end under these circumstances. For a moment I thought the game would end in a forfeit (like the incidents I mentioned).
Shit, Fredi Gonzalez decided he’d file a protest…denied, I understand, during the delay!!
All I can tell you is this: if this umpiring crew works the Nats’ series starting Sunday…

image

…the above-mentioned picture says it all!!
Retweet this blog; +1 it on Google Plus; do what you can to spread the word. Tonight, the joy has been taken out of the MLB postseason…by assholes masquerading as umpires.

For those of you who read this blog, I have news for you.
Good news, I mean.

image

So, here it is: beginning next week (around this time), I’ll write about the Nats’ postseason run on this blog…and share it here, which is my regular Nats blog on Blogger.

image

The main reason being, my browser on my computer won’t support Blogger…so I write those on my phone. It’s that I want to share this experience with all of you, and this is how.
(Oh, one other thing. My YouTube channel seems to be fixed, so I’ll get back to how I was doing there soon. Slowly, though…LOL)
I just realized I can put these on Google Plus as well. So there’s another outlet…
Those of you in Philadelphia/Atlanta/Dallas/Pittsburgh…Penguins fans only, not Pirates/Steeler fans…are NOT allowed to see my YouTube channel or follow me on Twitter. Those of you I do follow, I keep around for laughs.

image

So that’s it, gang. Just thought I’d let you all know about this move I’m making. Ciao, motherfuckers.

image

And enjoy our Natitude…lol

“Social” media, sports and hypocrisy…what’s wrong with THIS picture?

with one comment

Boston Bruins

Boston Bruins (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

A little late on this topic, I admit. I tried to write this last night (via my phone app), but no go. So…

It’s been 4 days since the Capitals won Game 7 of their 1st round series against the Bruins. Meaning it’s been 4 days since Joel Ward was subjected to such a vicious attack on his character (not to mention his color) on Twitter.

First–for the benefit of Boston sports fans–a history lesson, followed by the hypocrisy of it all.

The NEW backup for the Caps?

Does the name Willie O”Ree mean anything to you, Boston? Just in case it slipped your collective memories, I’ll refresh ’em for you:

Willie O’Ree, in 1958…April of that year, some 6 weeks before I showed up on this planet…was called up by the (wait for it) Boston Bruins!! In doing this, the NHL became integrated. Now, what happened next in Boston ties into the point I’m making.

In the mid ’70s, a federal judge there ordered that black schoolchildren were to be bussed into the neighborhoods of South Boston…lily-white South Boston, I might add. Needless to say, it didn’t go so well. I’m willing to bet, to this day there are still people there with racist attitudes over this.

Which leads me back to last week, and Twitter.

Ward

To think that the assholes responsible for cyber-assaulting Joel Ward could be the descendents of these South Boston racists of the mid-’70s…is not that far beyond the realm. Notice I said “could”, NOT “are”. Keep that in mind.

It’s just I find it ironically hypocritical, that the fan base of the team that intergrated the NHL chose to inject racism into a Stanley Cup playoff game. Now, I’m the first one to tell you not ALL Bruins fans are like these skinhead bozos…just as not all Redskins fans are drunken boozehounds. (Believe me, I saw enough of that back when my brother had season tix to the Skins.)

It’s hypocritical to claim the moral high ground when it’s your OWN fan base behaving like assholes. (Witness the idiot who mooned Bryce Harperat the plate Saturday night at Dodger Stadium when he got his 1st hit as a National.) Every team, whether it’s high school/college/pro, has them. And I was glad to see tweets from normal Boston fans who denounced those bums.

Thankfully I haven’t seen this type of shit go on as the 2nd round of the playoffs got underway on Saturday night at MSG. Still, it might take the Caps doing to the Rangers what the Bruins saw happen to them to set somebody off.

You never know. Anyway, if you want to find me across the social media universe, here are the other places I inhabit:

(The YouTube joint is on hiatus–meaning I’m not making videos right now. Software issue w/YT, is why. Until they fix it, I can’t make ’em.) All the others, you have to join ’em to comment. I erase spam/hate from ’em, too, so you’ve been warned.

A brief moment…

I’m taking this break from watching the Caps game, to let you know I’ll be taking a trip come June.
To of all places…Boston.
Now normally I would put this on my Nats blog (on Blogger), but I figured I’d try and drum up interest in this blog. So…

image

Here with a picture of me (on the right) with my brother Larry (center) at Nats Park in July of 2010.
The guy on the left is Larry’s buddy Charles Pannuzzio, who’s the assistant managing editor of the Northern Virginia Daily (in…I shit you not…Strasburg, VA). These two go on trips together for baseball/hockey/what have you.

image

Charles’ friend Steve is in this picture between us. It’s his camera where these pics came from.
Anyway, details on our trip to come in the future. (By “our”, it’s Larry and me. I should’ve said that at the outset…lol)

I promise I will let everyone know.

Football’s back? Oh, shit.

The Washington Redskins and New York Giants fa...

Image via Wikipedia

And here I thought we were going to have NO pro football this year. Lousy bastards…LMMFAO

But lo and behold, the NFL owners and players decided to fuck with my mind and settle everything. Wonderful. Anything to detract from Dan Snyder‘s (ongoing) snit fit with the Washington City Paper over a article painting the “Prima Danna” in an unflattering light…lol

Like any of you give a shit.

Anyway, back to football…namely, just what the fuck the Redskins will do as concerns a multitude of issues. Like, for one, at what point Donovan McNabb gets shown the door (to make way for…John Beck?? What bulshit is this?).

For another, when will the fat turd Albert Haynesworth save us Skins fans the humiliation and leave?

But more importantly, will we Skins fans actually see a REAL product on the field this year? Or do we suffer yet another from “Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumbass” (aka Mike and Kyle Shanahan; take your pick who’s who)?

Speaking of dumbass moves…take a look at this picture.

The seating in the upper deck in this pic…is no more. That’s right, Dan Snyder decided to take out the seating in the upper deck(s) at both ends of FedEx Field–and replace them with “patio”-type seating. THIS is “fan-friendly”, you fucking shitbrain?

How about putting a fucking product on the field, Danny?? Any of this sinking in?? Any of it??

Shit, I don’t know if anyone actually reads this blog, to be honest. But it gives me a place to vent. After all, the title says “Musings…”, and that’s what I’m doing here.

————————————————————————————————-

     A short note:

Even though I have a baseball-oriented blog through WordPress (you can find it here), I’ll be discontinuing it once the season ends. So many other MLBloggers have already done so (or will soon), ever since the transition from Movable Type to WP.

I found out today yet one more is giving up the ghost and moving it to Blogspot. What happened in my case, is that when MLB.com decided to make this move they locked in the name of my blog in the process (meaning, the username became “mlblogsgonastynats”).

Never mind I already had WP blogs to start with (transitioning from Windows Live Space). Motherfuckers fucked me up bad…ARRRRRGH!!

Bottom line is, this blog and another of mine stay put. The MLBlogs entry goes away in a few months. I may just move the gig to Blogger (where I already have a Caps-oriented blog); I’m not sure yet. But I’ll let people know…soon.

There’s a mistake made here by SOMEBODY…but who?

Simeon Varlamov plays goalie for the Washingto...

Image via Wikipedia

So now I find out today Semyon Varlamov–who we Caps fans all thoughtwas the future in goal–is no longer a Cap.

Alas, no longer the future in goal for the Caps...

Instead, he’s been traded to Colorado for a 1st-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft and a 2nd-rounder in either 2012 or ’13. Now the question is, WHO fucked this up? Varly, or the Caps?

Regardless, it now appears Michal Neuwirth is here to stay in Washington…at least for now, anyway.

The NEW backup for the Caps?

And that Braden Holtby will back him up. (Holtby’s pic, btw, is also on my new Caps blog–for Blogger–so now you know…lol)

Now there’s no telling what’ll happen between now and the start of the season. Your guess is as good as mine…LMAO

It’s (not) good to be “King”

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade

Image by Keith Allison via Flickr

So there you have it. “King” LeBron James proved last night, that it doesn’t make a shit whether it’s Cleveland or Miami–he won’t EVER win a NBA title!!

At first I didn’t give a rat’s ass about watching the NBA Finals. But then I flip on ESPN2, and they’re putting up tweets about how “King” LeBron is fucking up. So, off to ABC to watch the last 5+ minutes of Game 6.

Say what you want about Dirk Nowitzki, but the bastard’s committed to wanting to win. He showed that last night…although I’m troubled by his heading for the locker room before the final buzzer. (Granted, he came out for the trophy presentation…and weren’t we all waiting for the look on David Stern‘s face if he were to hand the trophy to Mark Cuban, given Cuban’s track record??)

Anyway, we were talking about “King” LeBron, weren’t we?

I can only guess how the sports yack radio universe in Miami went off after the game. Yeah, LeBron’s a motherfucker, ain’t he? And what was up with having Dwyane Wade sitting next to him at the postgame press conference? (Especially when somebody posed the “choke” question to LBJ…and D-Wade had it handed off to him? You that much of a pussy, LeBron?)

Hey, (city of) Miami, you wanted him there. DEAL WITH IT!!
